How to Get Motivated to Workout
If you are looking for a guaranteed way to be happier, healthier, and have more energy in your life, working out is by far the best way to do that. As someone who is interested in personal development, life improvement, and working on building a future of success and fulfillment, you must learn how to get motivated to work out.
There are many benefits to working out and people decide to start working out for many reasons, such as:
- Losing weight and gaining muscle
- Reducing body fat
- Having more energy throughout the day
- Feeling healthier and more vibrant
- Looking better and feeling stronger
- Meeting new people
- and more…
There are many life benefits to working out. Other than the general health benefits, working out, going to the gym, and being active outdoors are all great ways of meeting new people. If you’re single, working out is a great way to find a like minded partner. If you’re working in sales or you’re just starting out as an entrepreneur, playing sports and going to gym are great ways to meet new people and finding new prospects.
Being a member of a local gym is a must for any marketer or a sales professional who wants to get seen. Not only does it show that you are someone who takes care of themselves, but you will meet like minded, success orientated individuals, and people who are likely to have some disposable income to spend on whatever it is you’re selling.
The health benefits of exercise may seem quite obvious and most people are aware of the fact that some exercise will benefit them in some way. But to be more specific, the health benefits of exercise include but are not limited to:
- Increasing your heart rate during exercise is great for reducing your chances of heart disease and stroke
- Using your muscles and joints makes you far less likely to suffer arthritic and other inhibiting ailments during old age
- Exercise helps you burn excess body fat and builds muscle
- You will look and feel healthier and have more energy when you exercise regularly compared to someone who never works out
- and so on….
Many people lack the motivation to work out, and when its time to go to the gym, go for a run, or being their work out routine at home, they procrastinate and try to find anything else to do but work out.
People who suffer from a lack of motivation to work out have left out a key step in deciding to work out in the first place. There must have been a reason why they started to think about working out more. If it was any of the reasons mentioned above, or for any other reason, there must have been something or someone who made them want to begin this new lifestyle choice.
The reason they are lacking in motivation is that they haven’t found a reason strong enough and a why big enough to make them want to work out no matter what. The goal they’ve set themselves either isn’t big enough or the reason they are working out isn’t inspiring enough for them to get them through their initial resistance.
When you have a reason to workout, it must be so inspiring that there is no way you will ever miss a work out. The why must be so motivating for you that whenever you start to think of reasons why you shouldn’t workout, your why just blows them out of the way.
If the reason you’re working out is to look good in a t-shirt, then its easy to lose motivation and miss a workout or two. But if, for example, your goal was to find a partner who was also into fitness by improving your own physical fitness, then you may be more inspired to hit the gym.
If your goal is to run a marathon before you die, then you’re likely to be more motivated than someone who just wants to be more fit. You have to be specif as to why you want to workout to reduce your likelihood to miss work outs.
Seeing your goals as the be all and end all of your life, and the breaking of your commitments to yourself as a disgraceful dishonor to yourself, also goes a long way in motivating you to stick to your goals. Make a promise to yourself that you will wake up early everyday and go for a brisk walk or a jog, followed by some weight training exercises, because you don’t want to feel lazy with your life because your body looks that way. Commit to improve your self discipline by sticking to your promises and do it no matter what. Don’t let anything, even rain, snow, blisters, or wild rabid dogs stop you from going for your jog or hitting the gym, even if its for a short time.
As someone of honor, the first person who should honor and have integrity for is yourself. So by promising to yourself that you will stick to your workout goal, and doing it no matter what, you will be motivated to workout even when you don’t feel like it. You’ll just do it anyway.
So find your why, whatever it may be as long as its utterly inspiring for you, and commit that you will stick to your promise no matter what. In this way, you won’t lose motivation and losing motivation won’t even seem like an option. Just commit to starting your workout, and after the first 10-15 minutes, you’ll find your stride and forget all the reasons that were trying to hold you back.
Don’t hold yourself back. Commit to working out from today and you’ll never wonder again how to get motivated to workout. It’ll seem like a thing of the past because working out and staying fit will just be a part of who you are and what you do.
